Dancing is My Voice hosts an annual Zumbathon® Charity Event during National Hispanic Heritage Month (mid September to mid October). The Event attempts to gather enough people on the National Mall in Washington, DC to break the world record for largest Zumba® class, while raising awareness of sexual violence and pointing survivors and those who love them toward RAINN, the nation's  largest anti-sexual violence organization, for the next step in their healing journey.

Current figures suggest that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will become a victim of sexual assault in his or her lifetime. We think about the men, women and children we care about — and we’re driven to take action.  By talking publicly about this sensitive topic, perhaps we can start to remove the stigma and bring light to dark places.

RAINN has helped us realize that there’s something we can do — something we can all do, to affect change.

Our team has a goal of raising $50,000 for RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. We also want to put this event in the Guiness Book of World Records as the Largest Zumba class. Currently the record for the Largest Zumba class is in the Philippines with 12,975 people.

RAINN reported that with the renewed focus on sexual violence in the news, a record number of survivors turned to RAINN for help.

Ending sexual violence is a cause worth fighting for, and RAINN is an organization worth believing in. RAINN has helped more than 2.5 million survivors through the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) and they work every day to shine light on the issue.

Instead of simply asking donors for monetary contributions, our vision is to offer fun and empowering fundraiser events that encourages strength, community and an active lifestyle. We are turning our fundraiser into a FUNraiser!

Thank you for your support!

Dancing is My Voice will donate net proceeds from this event to RAINN.
